There once was a speedy Hare who bragged about how fast he could run.
Tired of hearing him boast, the Tortoise challenged him to a race.

One day, the hare and the tortoise raced. The Hare laughed at the slow climbing of the tortoise. The tortoise said that one day he would win.
Rabbit said, let's start the race now. The rabbit ran fast and the tortoise crawled desperately. In a short time, the rabbit and the tortoise were far away. The rabbit thought the race was too easy.
He had to sleep for a while, and said that even if he woke up, the tortoise would not catch up with him. And the tortoise, it crawls all the time, when the rabbit wakes up, the tortoise has reached the end.

龟兔赛跑
The Hare was once boasting of his speed before other animals. "I have never been beaten," said he, "when I put forth my full speed. I challenge any one here to race with me."
从前有一只兔子，他在其它动物面前吹嘘自己跑得是如何如何的快。“当我全速奔跑的时候，我从来没有被打败过，”他说，“谁敢跟我比一比？”
The Tortoise said quietly, "I accept your challenge."
“我来跟你跑一场”，一只乌龟沉着地说。
"That is a good joke," said the Hare; "I could dance round you all the way."
“快笑死我了，” 兔子说，“我一边跑一边围着你跳舞都能赢你”。
"Keep your boasting till you've won," answered the Tortoise. "Shall we race?"
“你跑赢了再吹牛吧”，乌龟说，“我们可以开始比赛了吗？”
So a course was fixed and a start was made. The Hare darted almost out of sight at once, but soon stopped and, to show his contempt for the Tortoise, lay down to have a nap. The Tortoise plodded on and plodded on, and when the Hare awoke from his nap, he saw the Tortoise just near the winning-post and could not run up in time to save the race.

Then the Tortoise said: "Slow but steady progress wins the race."
